Winter coat and otk boots.

One  thing my wardrobe is not really missing is the array of outwear (although I’m still looking for the ideal camel coat!). And I prefer to find this category by buying vintage. For two very good reasons. The price points are much better as well as the quality of what you can find. It doesn’t have to be a collectible designer name either! This classic coat is a newer find. And it’s  a current fave! I love the long line, the classic silhouette, and the color that sits somewhere between dark grey and blue.

It’s a warm, heavy piece and thus affords the ability to forgo too many layers (but I do rely on some Heatech camisoles.). Another good vintage piece is this navy dress (that I’ve had forever) with a Gumps label. It’s an elegant, simple cut in a subtly pleated fabric, and easy to style dressed up or more casual.

And I love a good thigh high boot! In this particularly bone chilling weather they really come through as much needed layer that also packs plenty of attitude.

I’ve styled this monochromatic look with two longer necklaces. You may have noticed that I prefer my chains chunky! But I love how slender chain (sterling, from Italy) compliments the heftier piece.
