HOUNDSTOOTH AND HOOPS

Houndstooth blazer and cropped jeans.

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you know that I love nothing more then a good blazer (see here, here, here and here, I was not exaggerating!) And during the winter months, I’m inevitably drawn to patterns  typically associated with menswear. I’ve been jonesing for a tweed, herringbone, or glen plaid jacket, and was happy to stumble upon this houndstooth blazer of uncertain vintage at a recent flea market trip. It’ s boxy cut and oversized shoulders are right up my alley!  It happens to be a petite size 12 and I love that I can layer other jackets under it. The cropped cut  suits the high-waist jeans well. I’m extending the wear of the cropped flair jeans by pairing them with socks (in this case in a crew style) that in turn winterize a peep-toe bootie.

While in Mexico City on a recent trip, I was convinced I would find some choice silver jewelry, however that proved disappointing, Apparently the kind of traditional Mexican sterling I was after is in very low supply in the capital. I’m a bit perplexed about that since on my many trips to Mexican resorts years back, silver jewelry was very plentiful. But I did manage to finally find these oversized hoops and have been wearing them at every opportunity I can get. It’s hard to showcase jewelry while bundled up in bulky layers. And hoops like these, and a Whiting & Davis chunky mesh snake bracelet (I layered a torque bracelet in between the coils) will do the trick!

What are you fav blazers and accessories for the winter months?
XO Sasha
