Slip dress over t-shirt.

The slip dress-over-tee–the resurrected trend of the 90s–has been going strong for more then a year now. I think its appeal lies in the endless possibilities the combination offers. And it’s ideal styling trick for making a lingerie-inspired piece daytime appropriate, thus stretching your wardrobe. And I love how you can skew the look of a dressier item by combining with something casual.

I think, I wore this dress only once for a wedding of a good friend, that had a flamenco theme, and I thought the handkerchief hem gave it the appropriate flair. Slip dresses are one thing not missing from my closet, but I know I won’t be able to resist the next one that catches my eye!

Here, I layered a silky slip dress with a Breton stripe tee, (a classic that’s a must-have in everyone’s wardrobe! It always makes me think of Coco Chanel , who featured the utilitarian garment in her collection in 1917, and Jean Seberg in Breathless) which lends the elegant dress an informal feel. The moto jacket reliably adds an edge. The flatforms are equally sporty and glam, and  I like the rose gold with black and white!

I went oversized, but minimal with jewelry–a single statement sun motif  drop earring from the 80s, and a fun plastic flower ring from the 60s.
